Introducing the self-care emporium

August 30, 2019

If you follow me on Instagram (go and do it now if you don’t!) you will have heard me talk about my new business The Self-Care Emporium.

If you’ve clicked on the little ‘Tarot Reading‘ tab at the top of this blog, you may have even visited the site already! Well, I’m finally here to tell you ALL about it and what you can expect.

What is The Self-Care Emporium?

I’ve been an advocate for mental health awareness for a few years now, I even walked the Great Wall of China last October to raise over £3,500 for The Mental Health Foundation.

I’ve been very open and honest about my battle with mental illness over the last 12 years and I’ve tried every trick in the book to manage and treat my depression and anxiety.

It wasn’t until last year, when I became Wiccan that I found a way that really worked in my favour. I realised that there were techniques and ideals I was using during my practices that could potentially help a lot of people.

I’d always wanted to talk openly about depression so that other people felt like they could too. It worked, a lot of people, even those I’ve known for years, reached out to talk about their own problems. I felt a true calling to help people with mental health problems and so I decided to do something about it.

How I use Wicca and Witchcraft to help others

I’m very careful how I go about using Wicca and Witchcraft in my content because I don’t want people to think I’m trying to convert them!

What I want to do is open up a whole knew way of thinking and seeing the natural world, that can benefits mental health. You don’t have to become Wiccan to benefit from the ideas and practice.

The Self-Care Emporium focuses on the metaphysical, it uses things like rituals, crystals, divination and meditation to unlock the things that are holding you back and creating symptoms that are relating to poor mental health.

I use divination a lot when helping others, specifically tarot cards. I have found that seeing my problems laid out before me in a narrative structure, helps me to process and work through things a lot easier.

I now offer tarot readings to other people to help them do the same, to unlock the things their subconscious mind is keeping from them and helping them overcome those things, to find clarity and motivation to move forward.

These techniques and concepts are all based off real world therapy techniques, things I’ve learned from being in counselling and working with a professional psychiatrist. I use a lot of belief challenging tasks, negative thought work and mindfulness techniques to support my tarot work. This is where my tarot life coaching comes in.

I created my tarot life coaching package because I wanted to show how tarot readings can support more traditional forms of mental health support. I use tarot readings to uncover and get to the root of the problem, then life coaching to help my clients work and overcome the things holding them back.

What are the key messages?

The Self-Care Emporium’s key messages are:

  • Balance
  • Self-discovery
  • Intention

These three things are most important to me when it comes to managing my own mental health. It’s taken a very long time to find balance in my life and the only way I was able to do it was through self-discovery and intentional living.

Many of my clients through The Self-Care Emporium have been ambitious, entrepreneurial women and balance is a big issue for most, if not all of them. I help them to create more time for self-discovery, which helps them identify deeply rooted beliefs that are causing them trouble in the present tense.

These things can be things we learned as children, teens or even as adults. They are often hidden by our subconscious so we don’t know they are there, but we experience side effects from them such as imposter syndrome or lack of confidence.

When will the store launch?

Ever since I was a child I’ve wanted to own a metaphysical store. As an adult, I very quickly realised I wanted to own my own business, but never believed I’d be able to make my metaphysical store dreams a reality.

Fast forward 20 years later and I thought I’d give it a shot! But I wanted to make sure that it was so much more than a store, I wanted it to really help people.

The store side of The Self-Care Emporium will sell tools and supplies for self-care rituals and meditation. I always give homework after my tarot readings or in my tarot life coaching sessions, the store will support the homework by making sure you have everything you need.

I’ve already started to purchase stock, so once I’m back in the UK, I will be working hard to launch the online store.

How can you book tarot readings?

Until the store is up and running, you can still book tarot readings and tarot coaching sessions with me.

The easiest way is through the Facebook page, where you can see all of my available sessions and book a day and time that is best for you.
